Also called bulk domain registration
Bulk registration, explained
Registrars offer bulk search and registration screens, file uploads and APIs, with term length, nameservers, privacy and auto-renew applied to the whole batch. First-year promotional prices often differ from renewal prices, so budget for the second year, not the first. Changing your mind is expensive: ICANN's AGP Limits Policy, written to stop domain tasting, caps the refunds registries give for names deleted in the 5-day Add Grace Period, and many registrars refund nothing at all.
Bulk buying is how many oversized portfolios begin. Every name becomes a renewal next year, and a list that includes brand-related names multiplies legal risk, since registering many names that target trademarks can be the pattern of conduct the UDRP treats as bad faith. AI name generators can produce thousands of candidates in minutes; filter them by end-user demand and trademark searches before buying, and register in small batches you can evaluate.
Example. An investor uploads a list of fifty screened names to a registrar's bulk tool, applies the same nameservers to all of them and calendars a review well before the renewal date.
