Keyword domain, explained

Value rises with the money that changes hands under the keyword, roughly measured by advertising cost per click, with search volume, and with the number of businesses that could use the name. An exact-match domain repeats a search phrase; a partial-match domain adds other words. Search engines give domain words little special weight: Google says they are one of many relevance factors and that its exact match domain system avoids giving too much credit to names designed to match queries.

Buy keyword domains for the buyer pool and the credibility of an obvious name, not for promised rankings. Commercial categories with many competing businesses produce buyers; long-tail phrases rarely do. Avoid keywords that are trademarks, check whether the singular or plural is the stronger form, and compare against reported sales rather than search volume alone. As AI answer engines answer more queries directly, a keyword name's value rests even more on memorability and trust than on search traffic.

Example. An insurance agency buys a city-plus-insurance keyword domain because customers already use those words, not because it expects the name alone to rank.
